Flynn Kybo - Page 3

While the Jedi launched their attack on Grievous and his forces, the Padawans were busy mounting an escape attempt. Using the Force to tunnel out of their cell, they descended into the caverns below the complex. when Grievous learned of their escape, he left to retrieve them personally with Kybo and the Jedi not far behind. Grievous caught up with them at the lowest levels beneath the gas pipes that powered the complex and above a flowing river of magma. Kybo and the Jedi cut through dozens of battle droids to catch up with the Padawans just in time. As Codi Ty rushed the Padawans to safety back aboard the Jedi's ship, Flynn and Master Tone went to work with their stated mission.

The two Jedi engaged Grievous in a perilous lightsaber battle above the flowing rivers of lava. When Grievous dispatched Master Tone first disarming him, then severing him in two, Flynn Kybo was left to face Grievous alone. The young Jedi knew he was no match for the cyborg, but hoped he might be able to outthink him. Fighting on top of a massive pipe, Kybo severed the supports in an attempt to send Grievous plunging into the lava, a move that would sacrifice himself in the process. Kybo knew that the General had to be stopped and was willing to give his life to see it happen.

Unfortunately, Grievous' knack for escaping death manifested itself once again that day on Belsus. The severance of the pipe set off a chain reaction that cause the entire complex to go up in flames. Flyyn Kybo fell into the lava and became one with the Force, but Grievous used his metal talons to cling to the scaffolding allowing him to survive. The mission to assassinate General Grievous had all but failed. The only victory for the Jedi was the successful rescue of the Padawans and their safe return to Coruscant, a feat that would do well to bring honor to Flynn Kybo and Jedi Master Tone.
